For more than 70 years, MOLYKOTE® has been a trusted partner, helping engineers and manufacturers meet some of the world’s toughest technical design and lubrication challenges through innovative combination of tribology and material science for dry lubrication.
MOLYKOTE® Anti-Friction Coatings contain solid lubricants dispersed through carefully selected resin blends and solvents. Our anti-friction coatings help customers improve safety, reliability and performance by controlling friction and wear, preventing component failures, extending lubrication intervals, and reducing production and operating costs.
Economical to apply, long-lasting and valued in uses where other lubricants fail, MOLYKOTE® coatings provide:
– Dry, clean lubrication unaffected by dust, dirt and moisture
– Lifetime lubrication without aging, evaporation or oxidation
– Rust prevention without surface treatments (e.g., galvanizing)
– Nonflammable, nonstaining protection on metals, plastics and elastomers
– Controlled film thickness for exact load-bearing capabilities
– Fully effective lubrication, even after prolonged shutdown
Coating Descriptions
D-6600 Anti-friction coating
A heat-cured anti-friction coating filled with low-friction solids in an organic binder. Suitable for the permanent lubrication of metal/metal and metal/plastic material pairings involving slow to medium-fast movements and medium to low pressure conditions. Amber in color with temperature range of -40C to 260C
D-6927 Anti-friction coating
A heat-cured anti-friction coating filled with PTFE solid lubricants in an organic binder. For plastics/metal and metal/metal combinations for low to medium loads. Used on automotive parts for brake, door and locking mechanisms; safety belts; springs; pins; washers and air-conditioner pistons. Black in color with temperature range of -60C to 240C.
D-7409 Anti-friction coating
A heat-cured anti-friction coating filled with molybdenum disulfide and graphite for high load-carrying capability. For metal/metal combinations with slow to moderately fast movements and moderate to high loads. Suitable for highly stressed sliding areas with low sliding speeds, oscillating movements or intermittent operations. For permanent lubrication at high temperatures and also where oils and greases cannot be used. Dark gray in color with temperature range of -70C to 300C.
D-96 Anti-friction coating
Sprayable solution used as offset to felt tape for isolation and damping applications. Eliminates noise on interior automotive components such as door panels, decorative trims, arm rests, central consoles, dashboards, glove boxes, etc., as well as leather equipment. Suitable for material combinations car paint/plastic, plastic/plastic, plastic/metal, car paint/leather, plastic/leather, leather/leather with slow movements or vibrations at low loads. Translucent appearance with temperature range of -40C to 150C.
3400A Anti-friction coating
Heat-cure dry lubricant filled with molybdenum disulfide and antimony trioxide for metal/metal combinations involving slow to medium-fast movements and medium to heavy loads. Used successfully in automotive applications such as pins, springs and bearings; body hinges and linkages; moving parts in locks, switches, ventilation controls and servo mechanisms; under-the-hood linkages exposed to dust, moisture, fuels, oils and other contaminants; hinge pins, sleeve bearings and cams; servo mechanism and instrument bearing; threaded connections and fasteners. Dark gray in color with temperature range of -200C to 315C.
106 Anti-friction coating
A heat-cured anti-friction coating filled with molybdenum disulfide and graphite. Used as dry lubrication for metal/metal combinations. Provides maintenance-free, permanent lubrication of highly stressed friction combinations with low speeds or oscillating operation. Used where design construction prevents the use of oil or Grease or where the risk of soiling is undesirable. Can be used for the dry lubrication of locks, hinges, joints, magnetic armatures and for the anti-seizure coating of engine and gear components. Gray in color with a temperature range of -70C to 250C.
